Other things often rely on national level infrastructures and have no local recorder or ones covering a few counties. More bodies is the basic answer, so I think the efforts to grow hover recorders will yield dividends and if something can be accomplished with Diptera more broadly that would be a significant win - although I think that's a harder sell than hovers probably.
